Modeling + Lighting Interior Environments

I kit-bashed multiple models together to create a bathroom, then lit the scene based on day and night scenarios. Nighttime portrays someone preparing for a night out, while daytime portrays the serene morning after. Pushing color and emotion was my main focus with this project. Created using Maya, rendered with Arnold.
DAY TIME
The main theme I wanted the daytime scene to have was a hungover morning, kind of sick and gross but in a refreshing way. In order to accomplish this, I staged the scene to turn the mirror, open the toilet, and turn all of the lights off.

Here are my color and lighting references for this scene. I really wanted to push the greens and yellows to capture that gross kind of feeling. Placement of the sunlight was also really important to guide the viewers eye to the focal point of the mirror.

NIGHT TIME
The main theme I wanted the night time scene to have is someone preparing for a night out. In order to accomplish this, I staged the scene to include a lit phone, all lights on, and makeup scattered everywhere.

Here is my color and lighting reference for the night time scene. I really wanted to capture a flourescent feel with a sliver of light coming through the door, creating a triangular composition between the light above the mirror, the bright phone on the toilet, and the light from the door out of frame.
