Stagger Lee Lighting and Rendering

Based on the legend of Stagger Lee, I created this composition, action, and lighting to tell a story. Rendered using Arnold render layers and AOVs, this was created in Maya with post work done in Nuke. Environment and models sourced from SketchFab, animations from Mixamo.

This is the breakdown of the scene with the animation at the end. This is when I really started getting comfortable with render layers in Maya, now I use them in basically every project, they are super helpful when it comes to lighting and compositing.
Here is my reference for the scene. It's based off a legend about a man named Stagger Lee. He walks into a bar to shoot a man just because he won Lee's hat in a poker game. Obviously I referenced a ton of cowboy and western films like 3:10 to Yuma and Tombstone for the smoky, bar scenes heavily featured in both films.
